Buying a car

Deal with the person who has driven it, not a salesperson. Here is how to find the right car and buy it safely.

Find a car

Anyone can browse prices and the three main photos of every car. Sign in with your email to see all the photos, the seller's badges and the viewing area, and to make offers. Search by make, model or year; each listing shows the price, mileage, specification and emirate up front. Every listing has the same set of photos from the same angles, so cars are easy to compare.

  • Labelled extra photos show damage, modifications and other details the seller wants you to know about.
  • Look for Enthusiast-owned and other things the seller has mentioned, such as full service history.
  • The viewing area tells you roughly where the car is before you book.

Get ready to make offers

Every buyer meets the same standard: you sign in with your email and add your full name and a mobile number (from any country). That's all most cars need. Once UAE PASS is live, you'll also verify your Emirates ID, once, in a couple of taps.

Some sellers only accept offers from buyers with proof of funds. Email support@nextowner.ae with a finance pre-approval or bank confirmation and we'll add the badge to your account.

If you buy cars for a living, email us to set up a trade account; we check your trade licence first. Sellers decide whether they want offers from trade.

Book a viewing

Pick one of the seller's times. When you book, you get the exact meeting point and the car's VIN, so you can check its history before you go.

If you can't make it, cancel in the app. Viewings you attend build your record; viewings you miss without cancelling are shown to the sellers you deal with.

Make an offer

  • Offer the asking price or less, and add a short message if you like.
  • You can have one open offer per car at a time, and three in total on any one car. Make each one count.
  • The seller has 72 hours to reply. If your offer is below their hidden lowest offer, it is declined straight away, so you know where you stand.
Offers are serious

Only offer what you can pay, in the way you said. If the seller accepts, you are agreeing in principle to buy, subject to the viewing, test drive and transfer.

Check the car

  • Use the VIN to check the car's history and that it isn't reported stolen or written off.
  • Compare the VIN on the car with the chassis number on the Mulkiya.
  • Ask whether there is finance on the car. If there is, the seller needs a clearance letter before the transfer.
  • Test drive it, ideally on a mix of roads, and consider paying for an independent inspection.

Pay and transfer

When your offer is accepted you get the seller's mobile number and a transfer checklist.

  1. Arrange insuranceYou'll need insurance in your name for the transfer.
  2. Transfer togetherComplete the ownership transfer through the RTA or your emirate's authority.
  3. Pay the seller directlyBy bank transfer or manager's cheque, at the transfer. Never pay a deposit before you have seen the car and its registration.
