Staying safe

Most people are honest. These features and habits help with the few who aren't.

What Next Owner does for you

  • Your address is never shown. Buyers see a viewing area until they book.
  • Your number plate is covered in every photo before it is uploaded.
  • The VIN is shared only after a viewing is booked or an offer accepted.
  • Names stay hidden until a viewing is booked, and even then it is only a short name, like Sara M. Phone numbers are swapped only when a sale is agreed.
  • Every buyer gives their name and mobile number, and sellers see each buyer's viewing record.
  • Offers from buyers with a number from outside the UAE are clearly marked.

Signs of a scam

Stop if someone

asks for a deposit before you have seen the car, wants to pay more than the price and have you send back the difference, asks you to continue on another app straight away, or sends a link to "release" a payment.

  • Next Owner will never ask you to pay or receive money through us.
  • We will never ask for your sign-in code. Don't share it with anyone.
  • Be wary of pressure to decide quickly.

Safer viewings

  • Meet in daylight, somewhere public or busy, like a mall car park.
  • Bring someone with you if you can, and tell a friend where you are going.
  • Sellers: go along on the test drive, and check the buyer's licence first.
  • Take photos away from traffic, never in the road.

Safe payment

  • Pay or get paid at the transfer, by bank transfer or manager's cheque.
  • Sellers: confirm with your bank that the money has arrived before handing over the keys and registration.
  • Avoid large amounts of cash.

Report and block

Every listing and offer has Report and Block links.

  • Report anything fraudulent, misleading, offensive or threatening. We review reports within 24 hours and may remove content, close accounts and inform the authorities.
  • Block anyone. They can no longer see your cars, make you offers or book viewings with you, and you won't see theirs. Manage blocks under Account.
