Before you start
Have these to hand. It makes the listing quicker and gives buyers confidence.
- Your Mulkiya (vehicle registration card), front and back.
- The car, clean and parked somewhere safe with space to walk all the way round it.
- The VIN plate or chassis number, usually at the bottom of the windscreen or inside the driver's door frame.
- Service history, if you have it, and how much finance is still owed on the car.
You can list up to two cars at a time.
Create your account
- Sign in with your emailWe send a six-digit code to your inbox. No password to remember.
- Add your name and mobile numberAny country's number works, so you can sell even without an active UAE number. It is only shared with your buyer once a sale is agreed.
- Verify your Emirates ID (coming soon)Signing in with UAE PASS will add an ID verified badge to your profile and listings.
Scan your Mulkiya
Photograph the front and back of your registration card. Next Owner reads the make, model, year, colour, specification and chassis number and fills them in for you. Check everything before you carry on; you can edit any field.
They are read and then discarded. We keep the car details, the chassis number and the registered owner's name, to check that the seller owns the car. The card itself is never shown to anyone.
Prefer not to scan? You can type the details in yourself.
Take the guided photos
The camera shows an outline of the shot and a small map of where to stand. Line the car up with the outline and take the photo. Hold your phone upright; the app crops each photo to the same shape so listings look consistent.
The first three are needed before your listing can go live. The others are optional, but listings with all of them get more serious offers.
Never stand in the road or near moving traffic to take a photo. A car park, driveway or quiet side street is best.
Your number plate is covered
After each outside shot, the app places a Next Owner plate over your number plate. Drag or resize it if it needs adjusting. The cover is part of the saved photo, so your plate number is never uploaded.
Show the details that matter
Add up to twelve extra photos and label each one as damage, a modification or a detail, with a short caption. Being upfront about a scratch builds more trust than hiding it, and buyers see a clear notice on cars with damage photos.
Add the VIN privately
Photograph the VIN plate. The app reads the number and checks it against the chassis number on your Mulkiya, warning you if they don't match.
The VIN is never shown on your listing. A buyer only sees it after they book a viewing, or after you accept their offer, so they can check the car's history before they pay. Blocked people can never see it.
Set your prices
| Price | Who sees it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Asking price | Everyone | The price you're hoping for. Buyers can offer it, or less. |
| Lowest offer | Only you | Any offer below it is declined automatically, and you're never notified. Leave it empty to see every offer. |
Not sure where to start? Look at similar cars in the app, then set the lowest offer at the figure you would genuinely accept on the day.
Who can make offers
Every buyer on Next Owner meets the same standard. Nobody can make an offer or book a viewing without:
- signing in with their email address,
- their full name on their account, and
- a mobile number (from any country; numbers from outside the UAE are clearly marked to you).
Once UAE PASS is live, every buyer will also need a verified Emirates ID.
Ask for proof of funds
Switch on Only buyers with proof of funds for your car and you'll only hear from buyers who have shown our team a finance pre-approval or bank confirmation. You'll get fewer offers, but more serious ones. You can change it at any time.
You can also choose whether trade accounts (dealers and traders) may make offers.
Viewings
Choose a viewing area, such as "Dubai Marina", that buyers see on the listing, and an exact meeting point that is shared only once a viewing is booked. If you're happy to travel, switch on flexible location and choose how far: 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 km.
Add the times you're free. Buyers book a slot, and it appears in the app for both of you. After the viewing you mark whether they came; missed viewings show on the buyer's record.
Handling offers
- Each offer shows the amount, the buyer's badges, their viewing record and any message they added.
- Accept, decline or let it run. Offers expire after 72 hours if you don't answer.
- A buyer can have one open offer on your car at a time, and up to three in total, so nobody can wear you down with endless small increases.
- Accepting means you agree in principle to sell at that price, subject to a viewing, a test drive and the transfer. Only accept offers you intend to honour.
Agreeing the sale and transfer
Once you accept, Next Owner shares your mobile number with the buyer and theirs with you, and opens a transfer checklist for you both.
- Settle any financeIf the car is on finance, get a clearance letter from your bank before the transfer.
- Get the car testedIf the registration needs renewing, the car may need to pass a test first.
- Transfer ownershipComplete the transfer together through the RTA (or your emirate's authority) using its app or a service centre.
- Get paid, then hand overTake payment by bank transfer or manager's cheque and confirm it has cleared before handing over the keys.
- Mark it soldYour listing comes down and both of you can leave the sale as complete.
Payment goes directly from buyer to seller. We will never ask you to send or receive money through us.
